Thunder is rolling and lightning is flashing outside my window. This doesn’t scare me, it does though make me high. The power and energy, the beauty of the weather, it all shows me that there is life beyond myself. I am surrounded by unrestrained life. It beckons me.
It is dark in my room and while L slumbers next to me, I meditate, type out these thoughts, and enjoy the show outside. There are so many highs to be enjoyed that don’t necessitate a substance and sometimes a substance is needed to find the high. The longer I stay still and listen, the longer I am curious and adventurous, the closer I can get to these natural states of wonder and awe.

Conversations with my daughter.
A freshly trimmed beard.
A hot and unrushed shower.
The slowing of my brain, the prep for sleep.
Dreams I preload into my consciousness.
My hands over my body.
These are simple acts, almost always available to me, and something I can share with others.
No shame. No fear. Just being.

R – thank you! I came back to this post in the morning and updated it from my computer. I found those typos you mentioned and a few other issues too! Typing from my phone while falling asleep in bed can certainly create chaos. Ah, to human is to embrace a bit of chaos! Thanks again, R!
