missing Zen

Our amazing cat, Zen, has been gone for over a week (since May 20th). Out of the blue, he disappeared. I am not going to talk about him like he is gone gone, more that he’s on an adventure. Maybe the adventure is temporary and he will come back home, maybe the adventure is forever and he’s out there seeing the world never to return, but Zen is never gone gone.

Zen was a sweet “kitty boy” and less than three years old. He came to us with his sister, Binx, thanks to the love and kindness of my daughter, Juliette. These two were found as kittens and were rescued by a loving family that cared for them until we adopted them. Miniature and small, they came to us as two handfulls of playful and loving meows. Binx is with me as I type this!

Zen is a very friendly cat and would walk with me in the mornings around the neighborhood and in the afternoons to the waterfall. When my kids were in the local school, he would join them for PE in the grassy “bowl” near our house. He was a friend to ALL strangers and teased dogs with kindness. His being and soul taught me something about love, being a derp, just going on the adventure.

My plea to anyone that reads this:

If you were in the Serenbe Georgia area in the past two weeks (Mado hamlet) and happened to pick up a very loving cat that appeared to you as a stray because he escaped his collar again – please return him home, contact me…or at the very least, be his best friend and take incredible good care of him. I am tearing up writing this…he means a lot to me, he means the world to my daughter and son, and he’s deeply part of this family.

Zen is never gone, but in his kitten form, I miss him so much.

Here are some pictures of Zen over the years. He’s got very cute freckles on his nose…like me. Yes, I am calling my freckles cute – my mom said so!
