broken bridges

🔜 there will be broken bridges on our path forward. what we do when we get to them and when we pass them matters. 🩹

time, use, and neglect will lead to the breakdown and brittleness of anything. bridges on my run, friendships in my life, and company cultures that we spend an insane amount of time in.

excuses we make when we encounter a broken bridge:

  1. i don’t have time to fix it
  2. i don’t have enough money to fix it
  3. i don’t care
  4. someone else will fix it

in my opinion, number 4 is the worst 😥 and easiest excuse to make. i do my best to revisit the bridges that I care about as often as I can.

my commitment to this broken bridge:

  • i will share the picture of this bridge with my local trail crew.
  • i will run a few miles back to this bridge and see what i can do to make it safer somehow (bring some tools? bring some helper friends?)

what do you do after you’ve crossed a broken bridge?
