No, not slow jack ‘assess’ as in donkeys. Slow and make assessments is what I meant. I wanted to write the full word, but the kid in me enjoyed leaving it at ‘assess’. Hehe, I said ass!
So, I like turtles and they tend to be the symbol of slow like it’s a bad thing. I had one that roamed my grandparents backyard when I was a kid by the name of Speedy. I thought the name was hilarious and still do. Speedy did run quite fast when they got the nerve, but usually I watched them wandering around in the shade. Speedy would munch some dandelions, stare across the yard, and eventually retreat back under the hibiscus bush with orange flowers. Sometimes I’d grab Speedy a fresh flower from the bush to check out. I don’t know if they were interested, but I do remember their assessment of this bright treat.
Moral of the story for me…maybe a reminder?
Hehe, slow down and ASSess. If the world doesn’t want you to take your time, be actively curious, and enjoy yourself, let the world speed on.
I wrote about unlearning hurry over at Empathy Lab as well. Guess what the cover art is?!?!
